Recently I came across ‘Burning Platform Memo’ supposedly written by the Nokia CEO Stephen Elop for Nokia employees. When it appeared on engadget.com I wasn’t really sure about its authenticity. Subsequently Engadget confirmed that it is indeed real and many other websites also carried it. This is one of the most honest memos that I have seen in many years. It not acknowledged the problems without being defensive. It will be interesting to see whether the action plan (likely to be announced on 11 Feb 2011) will be as bold as the memo.
To me Nokia has missed the trick completely. They kept selling hardware rather than creating experiences through apps/software.
